Then when you arrive we meet with you, and , if you'd like, we'll be happy to go over the plan with you on the spot. Of course, not everybody likes to leap out of bed at eight o'clock when they're on vacation. These people may want to leave some things out completely. Others may wish to add on extra side trips  - we can help with suggestions for that too. For our "Grand Tour" guests, the cell phone is particularly helpful and reassuring if you get lost driving during the day, or if you need our assistance with translations etc, etc ... SOME IDEAS

Here are some of the day-trip destinations that we suggest in our detailed itineraries. Some you can swap around according to your fancy, some are based on markets that are only held on certain days :

The Heart of Provence, its markets, villages and country towns:

Isle sur la Sorgue to Gordes . A visit to the internationally known antique & flea market of this gem-like Provençal country town, built on an island in the jade-green Sorgues river. Then visit more of the Heart of Provence – the cascading Fontaine de Vaucluse, the spectacular village of Gordes, the working Cistercian abbey of Sénanque. All close by. We can give you the key recommendations that will make your visit more successful, more enjoyable.

Saint-Rémy, Arles, Les Baux de Provence.  Everybody loves the market in St Rémy, the town that reminds us how Aix-en-Provence was 30 years ago. Then visit the Roman coliseum and amphitheatre in Arles, and the astonishing medieval cathedral. In the afternoon you can take in the medieval fortified village of Les Baux de Provence and a few of the other pretty small towns of the Alpilles

Lourmarin food & craft market. A sophisticated regional market like the one in St Rémy, but bigger and better, and you don’t have to find a parking space; you can stagger back to Les Olivettes with your purchases.

The Luberon Villages : Spectacular scenery; visits to the hill-top villages of Bonnieux, Roussillon, and Menerbes.

Avignon and Châteauneuf-du Pape : Visit the Popes Palace, one of the finest medieval monuments in Provence, and go on to Chateauneuf du Pape.

Aix en Provence & Cassis : Morning & lunch in Aix then drive to the picturesque fishing village of Cassis. Here you can tour the fjord-like 'Calanques' in a boat or on foot. Why not taste some wine too?
